BANJA LUKA, Bosnia-Herzegovina (AP) — Authorities say police have arrested three men suspected of war crimes during the 1992-95 Bosnian war.
Police in a statement Wednesday released only the initials of the suspects and said they were arrested in Banja Luka because they apparently killed 15 Bosnian Muslims in 1995. The three will be handed over to the prosecutors office.
Bosnia is divided into a Serb republic and a federation shared by Muslims and Croats. Arresting war crimes suspects wanted by the other region used to be something that local authorities avoided after the war.
But as both regions begun seeing their future in the EU, they started reforming their institutions and cooperating with each other so that such arrests have become common
